Farmers Markets & COVID-19

Virginia farmers markets are open during the COVID-19 health crisis, even though they were not deemed essential businesses in the governor's executive order. Friends of Urban Agriculture is advocating for the reclassification of farmers markets as essential businesses like grocery stores. Farmers markets now operate under guidelines that require vendors to be 8-10 feet apart and recommend pre-ordering and pre-bagging.

We urge you to visit Arlington's farmers markets and support our local farmers and vendors who have had to pivot quickly to meet these new guidelines. Some have experienced hardship as other markets like restaurants, schools and institutions have closed. Those that can now offer delivery. Visit the farmers market websites to learn about their current guidelines, operational adjustments, and pre-ordering opportunities.

Arlington has 9 farmers markets. View a map of all the farmers markets and find one near you.
